Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email message when needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show how visitors move through the website, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic data for review. Browser controls can block cookies, though some website functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Breckinridge County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to the sheriff, the District and Circuit courts, the Kentucky State Police repository, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules govern the data entered there. We do not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the sheriff, courts, state agencies, legal aid services, or outside search providers. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to track activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards are used for collected data, but no internet system can be guaranteed secure. Reasonable measures reduce risk without eliminating the chance of unauthorized access.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor's data was provided, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
The Kentucky Consumer Data Protection Act, KRS 367.3611 to 367.3629, may provide rights to Kentucky consumers when its coverage rules apply. The Kentucky Consumer Protection Act at KRS 367.110 to 367.300 separately governs unfair, false, misleading, or deceptive trade practices. Visitors may ask to:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Receive a portable copy when the law requires one
- Opt out of covered targeted advertising, data sales, or profiling
